Andrew B. MacDonald

Member, 2010 Legacies Now Board of Directors

Andrew B. MacDonald recently completed his 25th year in the investment business, most recently as a Canadian Equities portfolio manager with Phillips, Hager & North Investment Management. Andy left PHN in mid-2009 to spend more time with his young family.


Over the past 25 years, Andy held various volunteer positions in fundraising at his alma mater, Princeton University. While living in Toronto, Andy’s sat on the Boards of CRC Self-Help Inc., a non-profit housing corporation; and the John Howard Society of Toronto, which supports people in conflict with the law.

Growing up in Vancouver, Andy participated in numerous sports, among which he excelled in squash. He was ranked second in Canada as a junior, and he played on the Princeton Varsity Squash team, winning four varsity letters as a member of three national championship teams. Following graduation, Andy won numerous doubles squash tournaments in both Canada and the U.S.A. including, the 1984 U.S. National Doubles Championships. Andy went on to play professionally in tournaments throughout North America, reaching ninth in World Doubles rankings.

Having lived almost half of his life outside British Columbia, Andy is happy to be back in Vancouver.
