Bruce Dewar, Chief Executive Officer, 2010 Legacies Now

Chief Executive Officer

Bruce's Olympic and Paralympic journey started in 1998 as a board member of Tourism Vancouver when it voted to support the Vancouver 2010 Bid to host the 2010 Winter Games. Since then, he has supported numerous projects to help British Columbia leverage the Games into lasting legacies for the entire province. Prior to joining 2010 Legacies Now, he worked on a provincial trade and investment strategy, helped develop the Inner-City Inclusive Commitment Statement, worked with the Four Host First Nations, and strived to help BC's tourism industry capitalize on the many opportunities hosting the Games can bring.

For the Community

Bruce has been involved in numerous community-based organizations. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Whistler Sustainability Centre. Previously, he was chair of the Board of Directors for the Laurier Institute and the Vancouver Coast and Mountains Tourism Region Association; he was also on the Board of Directors for Tourism Vancouver and the Vancouver Board of Trade. Bruce also served as president of the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese garden, an advisor to Asian Heritage Month, and director of the Canadian International Dragon Boat Festival.

Background 

Bruce Dewar has over 20 years of experience developing and implementing strategic plans for both private companies and public agencies. He is well-versed in developing business plans, market-entry strategies, market research, brand extension and repositioning in a changing marketplace. He has been involved in several international projects spanning 12 countries. Bruce holds a Masters of Science in Management of Technology from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
