Member, 2010 Legacies Now Board of Directors
Jim Godfrey is the executive director for the 2010 Winter Games in Whistler. Prior to accepting this position he was the municipal administrator for the Resort Municipality of Whistler, one of the worlds top year-round mountain destination resorts.
In addition to serving on the Board of Directors for 2010 Legacies Now, Jim is a member of the Board of Director for the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) and the Whistler 2020 Development Corporation.
Jim and his teams have received many awards including the Willis Award for Innovation from the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators and the CH2M Hill Sustainable Community Award from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.
During his tenure in Whistler, the community received first place for Planning for the Future and the silver award for Livable Communities from The International Awards for Liveable Communities. Jim also won the Fraser Institutes Economy in Government Competition.
Jim worked in parks and recreation in Burnaby, North Vancouver, Sparwood and Maple Ridge before becoming deputy administrator for the Township of Langley in 1981. He held that post until 1996 when he joined the Resort Municipality of Whistler.
Jim is married with one son and a stepdaughter.
